Jeff Meltzer formed the specialist insolvency practice in 1992. Karen Mason joined Jeff shortly after and then formed a partnership at the turn of the millennium.
We have built a record for getting good results for our clients in a manner which reflects our mixed skills - integrity, professionalism and compassion.
As a firm, we have well over 100 years' experience, covering a wide range of solvency and insolvency work, acting as receivers and liquidators appointed by banks, courts, shareholders or creditors.
We act as specialist advisors to shareholders, accountants and lawyers and also undertake investigations for secured lenders, work-outs and compromises.
Our specialist field includes:
- Receiverships and liquidations - solvent and insolvent
- Dispute and conflict resolution through mediation
- Compromises with creditors
- Court-appointed investigations
- Problem loan reviews
- Viability assessments and investigations, including budgeting, cash-flow forecasting and security reviews
- Business restructuring, work-outs and performance monitoring
- Advisory work
We are a partnership with highly regarded experienced senior specialists. We only undertake corporate recovery-related work and are therefore completely independent. This frees us from the constraints of other larger multi-disciplinary practices.
Our entire focus is one getting the best results for all parties at a time of tension and hardship. To achieve this we don’t always take the easiest route, but we’ll take the one that potentially achieves the best outcome for all parties. At Meltzer Mason we are sensitive to the difficulties and competing interests involved in insolvencies and we seek solutions which are often “outside the square” to achieve more for more people.
As a result, we build long term relationships with the people we represent, on many levels.
On the practical side, we are flexible, pragmatic, available and cost effective. We offer an initial briefing (with you and/or your client) at no charge, and follow through with clear communications and regular reporting. Because we comprise partners and senior, experienced staff, there is always an experienced practitioner to advise on particular issues. We assess each job on its merits and have no prejudged formula for achieving the right outcomes – every job is unique and planned depending on the circumstances.
We get results by being constructive.
